I love photography gear as much as (i.e., probably more than) most folks.  And, while nice gear can be a big help, it is not the biggest determining factor in making a good image. In reality, the camera really doesn't determine the shot.  Great photos can be created using the camera most of us carry with us at all times. In fact, even when I'm out on a shoot with my "real" gear I often make a capture or two with the iPhone. Why? Well, one reason is that it records the GPS data for the shoot location automatically. Another is that it is tough to post a quick shot to Facebook for friends and family from my Nikon DSLR while camping, driving, sitting in the lobby at the dentist, staying alert during that afternoon meeting, etc...

I try to challenge myself daily to capture interesting images just using my iPhone. Here are some of my favorites.
